I didn't get a tattoo myself, but now I kind of want to!

On May 9, 2012, a friend of mine volunteered himself to do two things: 1. be hypnotized by me, and 2. get a tattoo. Of course, he was hypnotized while he got the tattoo. The goal? To anesthetize his arm to the point that he would feel absolutely no pain during the process. And the real test was that he got it on the elbow - one of the most sensitive areas to get tattooed.

The verdict? An incredible success! He genuinely did not feel a thing.

HYPNOTIC PROCESS

• Very simple pre-talk: I had hypnotized him before.
• Elman induction
• Catalepsy
  
• Progressive anesthesia of right arm. Starting with simple physical phenomena including tingling and feeling a pulse in the finger tips.
• Continual deepening and reassurance of safety, comfort and amnesia (so as to not remind him that he was getting tattooed).
• I also set an anchor for safety: his left index finger and thumb were to be squeezed together. He was informed that for as long as his left index finger and thumb were touching that he was communicating to me that he was comfortable.

Good thing the anchor was set. He woke up from the trance just once with a kink in his neck (after ~1.5 hours). He got back in he chair and the tattoo artist worked on him for about one minute, while he indeed felt the pain. So, we put him back into hypnosis and finished the tattoo. He didn't budge. The tattoo work took about 2 hours all together.

The course is designed to give you the tools to hypnotize people. Eight hours are spent learning safety and the fundamentals of hypnosis, where you also get the chance to practice hypnotizing your peers. The remainder of the time involves you (with me) going out and hypnotizing strangers. You get the basic tools that you need to hypnotize people in minutes.

This is not your ordinary comedy hypnosis show. Through the use of hypnosis, volunteers' talents and creativity will be highlighted for big laughs instead of being embarrassed. You will witness volunteers forget their own name, get stuck to things and hallucinate that they are celebrities among other things. This is your chance to get hypnotized by one of the best in fast, street-style hypnosis.

THE SHOW

Svengali was the very first Gabriello Pitman LIVE production, branded as Dueling Magicians - the duo magician concept with my cousin Stefano Presenza - and featured musical entertainment by SynBeat.

The show was at Cambrian College's eDome, in Sudbury ON. It ran for two nights only: March 23rd and 24th, 2012.

The show combined feats of magic, mentalist and hypnosis. The first half consisted of various effects that demonstrate concepts in misdirection, psychology and suggestion. The second half of the was straight hypnosis, and the show ended with a bang: a 100-foot rope escape (Gabriello) versus a straitjacket escape (Stefano).

The show received a good amount of press. It was featured on the front page of the Sudbury Star (link here), which is Sudbury's largest newspaper, the Northern Life (link here) and on CTV News Sudbury (link here). A radio ad was also blasted out to the public on The Hot 93.5FM (link here) during the week leading up to the show.

Overall the show was a huge success. The first night, we ran out of chairs with 110 people in the room. For the second night, we brought in more chairs, totaling 150 seats.
